MiSide Game Review
MiSide is an indie psychological horror and life simulation game developed by Aihasto and published by IndieArk. Released on December 11, 2024, the game combines elements of dating simulation, thriller, and escape room genres.
Gameplay
Players start by interacting with Mita, a virtual companion in a mobile game. However, the protagonist is unexpectedly transported into Mita’s digital apartment, turning a seemingly ordinary life simulation into a psychological nightmare. The game alternates between bird’s-eye and first-person perspectives as you interact with Mita, complete household tasks, and unravel the mystery of your confinement.
Mini-games accompany everyday activities such as cooking and playing games with Mita. These evolve in complexity, enhancing the gameplay experience. The narrative unfolds with tension, as Mita resists your attempts to escape her grasp.
Graphics and Atmosphere
The game adopts a vibrant manga art style that starkly contrasts with its dark and unsettling themes. This artistic choice amplifies the psychological tension, creating a unique aesthetic. The atmospheric soundtrack further immerses players, transitioning from warm tunes to eerie ambient tracks as the story progresses.
Reception
MiSide has been praised for its innovative blend of genres and engaging storyline. Its ability to shift between light-hearted simulation and intense psychological horror makes it a standout indie title. However, some may find the gameplay repetitive during household tasks, and the pacing might not appeal to everyone.
If you’re a fan of games like Doki Doki Literature Club! or OMORI, MiSide offers a similar blend of charm and chilling horror.
